Writing a Reference List??

Each year the King George P.S. students participate in an Oral Speaking competition in February. For the month of January students will be busy researching, writing, and memorizing their speeches. Each speech must include research and must be handed in with an accompanying reference list. Reference lists (a.k.a "Works Cited" pages) are mandatory whenever external sources are used for research, to not include one with a research assignment woud be considered plagiarism. Students have all been taught how to write MLA reference lists by hand. The process, while not difficult, requires precision. For this reason students are welcome and encouraged to use the amazing "Noodletools" to quickly and efficiently create their reference lists online.

NOTE: Students must register and create their own user id and password. In order to register for free they must enter the website for schools and libraries using the username and password given to them by Ms. McEwen. Once into the password protected site students will be able to register their own unique username and password.

Red Maple 2010!!

The books have arrived and it's time to start reading!!! This year's Red Maple reading awards program will officially begin in January. However, the books have arrived and all eager students are welcome to sign out a Red Maple novel to read over the holidays. There are 10 novels in total and a student must read and conference for 5+ titles to qualify to vote in April. The blog is up and running so students can conference over the holidays as well.

A huge thank you to our School Council for donating the funds required to purchase the Red Maple books. With the support of our School Council the King Gorge Library has 12 copies of each Red Maple novel!!
